A copper alloy object of uncertain function, possible brooch or buckle, of uncertain period, probably Post Medieval, AD 1600 - AD 1990.

The object is broadly circular in plan and slightly D shaped in section. The object has a circular loop with a circular perforation in the centre, there is a cicumferential groove running around the inner edge of the loop. There appears to be a small rectangular projection from the outer edge of the loop, it is not clear if this is a break, it is possible. There are three evenly spaced knops protruding from the object. There is no further decoration on the surface. The front face is domed slightly, and appears to have bevelled outer edges. The reverse is flat and undecorated.

The object measures 35.4 mm in length and is 37.2 mm wide. It has an inner diameter of 20.5 and is 2.5 mm thick. It weighs 5.8 g.

The object is a mid to dark brown in colour with an even patina. There are areas of dark green, inactive, copper corrosion on the surface of one of the outer knops. There are areas of lighter green active corrosion on the reverse. Abrasion caused by movement whilst within the plough soil may have resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail. A direct parallel for this object could not be found that time of recording. Suggested dates are tentative.
