Post medieval copper alloy toy petronel. 98mm in length, 16mm wide and 10mm thick with a weight of 46.8grams. The barrel is incomplete and octagonal in cross section. When viewed in profile, the butt of the gun is formed from an elongated triangle, which is rectangular in section, and ends in an egg shaped, faceted terminal. The butt extends to run parallel with the barrel of the gun, for about half the barrels length. At the point where its stops there are two damaged 'C' shaped flat plates attached with a screw on one side (one of these would presumably move backwards to light the powder?) and further back where the handle starts there is a trigger? mechanism screwed to the side which extends in a Z shaped form underneath the handle and onto the other side in one direction and also towards the barrel at the other end. Above this is a pan like rectangular projection with circular depression in its upper surface, sitting below a small hole in the side of the barrel.

On the underside where the butt stops and directly below the side attachments, is a screw like projection which holds the fragment of another plate/attachment which is now rectamngular but looks damaged. on the plain side of the gun there are patches of tinning? and a few small holes

There are several examples of a similar form to this, see BUC-18D654 LIN-2C1451 ESS-8EC228 but this example is the most complete, being the only one recorded with the extra plates and trigger mechanism.
