An unidentified copper alloy object, possibly part of harness trappings and possibly medieval or post medieval dating to c AD 1400-1800. The object is sturdy and weighty and appears to be part of a swivel mechanism or perhaps a brake for a pulley. The object is sub-trapezoidal in plan. The upper edge has curved shoulders and a slightly concave depression in the upper side where it appears that part of the object is missing. The lower edge also has a concave edge and in the centre of the base is the sub-circular stub of a knop which is incomplete. There is a circular perforation through the object which is offset to one side and just below the centre line. On one face at the top there is a raised narrow section which may have formed part of the top of the object. The sides of the object are both slightly concave along the long line of the side.
The patina is dark green with small patches of light green. The object weighs 30.39g and measures 30.32mm in length, 21.55mm in width and 11.5mm in depth.
