A copper alloy stirrup-shaped, medieval finger ring. The ring rises from the shoulders into a pointed bezel that is sub-triangular in plan. The setting is empty, except for the remains of a white adhesive or solder. The hoop of the finger ring is undecorated and has been bent out of shape. The object has a smooth mid-green patina and is in fair condition.
Dimensions: 25mm in length, 17mm in width, 4mm thick, 1.5g
This form of finger-ring was most popular during the 13th century however the date range can stretch from c.1150-c.1500 (Egan and Pritchard 2002:326). Other similar artefacts examples on the database include FAKL-A987D7, WILT-7C366D and IOW-D92652. This form of ring also is known in gold such as HAMP-6EC8B4.
