About one quarter of a post-medieval sub-square shoe buckle frame. The form, with "bevelled edges on internal corners" is close to Whitehead 2003, no. 651, a larger and rectangular example, but a moulding above the spindle housing is marked by a single groove at both ends and in the centre of the edge a rectangular boss sits in the centre of a recess. Length and width 30 and 29mm. c.1690 - c.1720.
