Post Medieval (16th to 17th centuries) hooked-clasp: A copper alloy sword belt hanger which is the 'hook' and not the 'eye'. The body of the dress fastening is sub-rectangular in plan with concave sides, rounded corners, and a convex centre of the upper edge. The outer face is decorated with a foliate motifs. There are three rivet holes on the body filled with fragments of iron rivets. The lower edge has a projecting rectangular arm which is oval in section and curls upwards towards the outer face of the body, forming the hook. The reverse is undecorated.

The surface of the clasp has a well developed dark green patina. The low-relief areas has deposits of wax which may have been recently applied.

It measures 49.16mm long, 31.54mm wide, 14.62mm thick, and weighs 14.29g

The object is probably a sword belt hanger dating to the 16th to 17th century. Read (2008) illustrates a very similar example, No. 790.
