Lead spindle whorl. Cast plano-convex whorl with a tapered moulded central aperture of diameter 9.5-10.3mm diameter and a flattened band around its upper edge, probably Walton Rogers form A1. Patinated. The aperture size tends to point to an Anglo-Scandinavian date, while the mass would permit the whorl to have been used to spin a yarn. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 850-1000.
