A complete probable base sherd of a wheel made vessel of the Post Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1600 - c. AD 1800.
The base sherd is hexagonal in plan and is rectangular in section. It has been glazed on the interior surface with a shiney brown glaze. The exterior of the vessel appears to show evidence of fire or heat damage, the object is blacked towards the centre (now edge). The top edge of the interior of the vessel is curved up slightly possibly indicating that the object was a shallow bowl or plate originally. There are small black inclusions within the fabric. The fabric is similar to a local Glazed Earthen Ware dating from the 17th to 19th Century.
The sherd measures 53.8 mm in length and is 58.6 mm wide. It has a thickness of 7.8 mm and weighs 36.7 g.
