Medieval (13th and early 14th century) horse-harness pendant: The copper alloy pendant is sub-circular in plan and the centre of the upper edge has an integral lug with an incomplete perforation, which is perpendicular to the pendant. The pendant is flat on both faces.
The outer face is covered with a red-orange coloured gilding otherwise the pendant is abraded, has traces of a dark green patina and a red-brown coloured surface on the reverse.
The pendant measures 23.59mm long, and 16.01mm wide. It weighs 2.13g.
The harness pendant dates to the Medieval period and were most popular in the 13th and early 14th century (Griffiths, N. 1986 Horse Harness Pendants Finds Research Group Datasheet No. 5).
