An Early Medieval copper alloy buckle dating to the period c.AD 975-1150. The buckle is D shaped in plan and circular in cross section, with a narrowed offset axis bar. The outer edge expands towards the apex, and at each side where the frame meets the axis bar it terminates in zoomorphic terminal, with the animals snout forming a knop. Ears are also present, but the buckle is too worn to discern any other features. Zoomorphic terminals are a common feature of buckles of this period and are intended to represent some sort of quadruped's head, such as a lion or leopard. The pin is missing, and a brown patina is present on the surface aside from areas of light brown on the inside of the frame and the outside of the axis bar. The pin is missing.
The buckle measures 19.37mm in length, 15.47mm in width, 4.85mm in thickness and weighs 4.92g
