A Roman ceramic sherd from a Black Burnished ware (BB1, from Wareham/Poole Harbour, Dorset) vessel, dating c. AD 43 - 410. A flat base from a bowl or dish. Hard fired black fabric with burnishing on both the internal and external surface. Abundant sub-angular to sub-rounded small translucent quartz inclusions, <1.0mm.
