Flake 1: A sub-oval, tertiary flint waste flake. The flint is mid brown and dark grey with areas of beige mottles and opaque with a low gloss patina.
Dimensions: 81.4mm x 65.7mm x 22.4mm.
Weight: 153.2g.
Flake 2: A large secondary waste flint flake. The flint is opaque and mid-brown to mid-grey in colour with a mid-gloss patina. Cortex remains on the triangular ridge area at the proximal end and another area close to the distal end of the dorsal face. The flake is lozenge shaped with a triangular cross-section. The ventral face shows removal of large broad flakes all terminating in hinge fractures along the whole of the right margin, there is no apparent bulb of percussion indicating probable use of a soft hammer.
Dimensions: 80.7mm x 40.2mm x 17.2mm.
Weight: 70.3g.
Flake 3: A secondary flint blade flake. Produced in the process of blade manufacture, this typically long, elongate flake is light grey with lighter mottles, opaque with a low-gloss patina and patchy areas of reddish brown ferrous staining mainly on ridges. Cortex remains on 40% of the right side of the dorsal face which shows through to the ventral face left margin and parts of the flake are covered in a thin milky speckled re-cortification, mainly on the ventral face. The dorsal face shows parallel blade flake removal scars. The ventral face shows no bulb of percussion indicating probable use of a soft hammer such as antler.
Dimensions: 93.8mm x 31.8mm x 17.4mm
Weight: 61.5g
Flake 4: A sub-oval waste secondary flint flake. The flint is opaque, mid-grey with large beige matt patches and a mid-gloss patina. An area of thick nodular cortex remains on 50% of the dorsal face at the distal end and there is a small patch on the right side margin, both areas show through to the ventral face. The dorsal face shows five linear blade flake removal scars emanating from the proximal end. The ventral face shows a prominent bulb of percussion indicating probable use of a hard hammer.
Dimensions: 70mm x 47mm x 21.6mm.
Weight: 87.9g.
Flake 5: A sub-rectangular, tertiary flint waste flake. The cherty flint is reddish brown and opaque with a low gloss patina. The dorsal face show flaking scars across the whole face and the ventral face shows a low bulb of percussion indicating probable use of a soft hammer.
Dimensions: 40.5mm x 37.3mm x 12.6mm
Weight: 17.1g
Flake 6: A small waste tertiary flint flake. The semi-translucent flint is mid-brown but is now covered in a thin blue-white, speckled re-cortification with one dense spot of reddish brown ferrous stain. The dorsal face shows flake removal scars with strong conchoidal ripples and the ventral face shows a prominent bulb of percussion with bulbar scar and strong conchoidal ripples indicating probable use of hard hammer.
Dimensions: 29.3mm x 24.7mm x 7.9mm.
Weight: 6.6g.
Flake 7: A sub-oval tertiary flint waste flake. The semi-translucent flint is mid-brown in colour, now covered in a blue-white speckled re-patination with a mid-gloss patina. The dorsal face shows covering flaking scars and the ventral face shows a prominent bulb of percussion and strong conchoidal ripples indicating probable use of a hard hammer.
Dimensions: 27.8mm x 32.8mm x 6mm.
Weight: 4.4g.
Flake 8: A small sub-oval, tertiary waste flint flake. The semi-translucent flint is mid-grey in colour with a mid-gloss patina. The dorsal face shows parallel blade flake scars and the ventral face shows a prominent bulb of percussion indicating probable use of a hard hammer.
Dimensions: 33.8mm x 16.7mm x 5.4mm.
Weight: 3.88g.
Collective weight: 404.88g
