An incomplete copper-alloy cored (silver plated) forgery of a class 3b hammered penny struck under Henry III, dating c. 1249-1250. The coin combines a well-executed copy of a class 3b obverse with the reverse of an Irish issue penny struck by Ricard at the mint of Dublin. Part of the coin has broken away, reveal copper-alloy corrosion products consistent with being base-metal cored.
This has been noted as an interesting find by the recorder.
