An incomplete copper alloy hooked mount or strap fitting, of probable Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1700).

Around 90% of the hooked mount is present, as the hook demonstrates an old break and is no longer complete.

The mount has a sub rectangular shape, with a pointed ends. One end bears the remains of a sub triangular hook. The mount is convex, as if designed to fit onto a cylindrical item. Two circular rivet holes are present, one complete and one incomplete as there is a rip through the metal to the external edge. The complete hole has an internal diameter of 2.0 mm. The front of the mount has been decorated with four sets of two parallel lines, spaced evenly down the length of the mount. A line runs the length of the hook. The reverse is concave.

It measures 48.5 mm in length, 14.0 mm wide and 6.0 mm thick. The metal is 1.9 mm thick. It weighs 4.9 g.

The mount is a mid to dark green colour, with an even surface patina.

No direct parallel was found at the time of recording, but the overall shape and characteristics of the artefact would lead to the assumption that it is a hooked mount or strap fitting, of probable Post Medieval dating. A similar type of artefact has been recorded on the PAS database as SOM-50FCD7, which would suggest the hooked mount or strap fitting conclusion.
