An abraded rim-sherd from a probable storage or cooking vessel of Medieval coarseware, dating c. 1150-1400. It demonstrates a relatively flat-topped rim, which extends down before curving outwards to form the shoulder of the vessel, at which point it is truncated abruptly in old damage. The outer surface of the fabric is a mid brown colour, while the interior seems to be more blackish. Frequent inclusions of sand temper are visible, intermingled with a few larger chunks. Preserved in fair condition, it measures 39.65mm long, a maximum of 36.37mm wide, and 13.86mm thick at the midpoint of the rim. It weighs 26.20g. The curvature of the rim suggests an original diameter of c. 40cm.
