A complete Medieval copper-alloy hooked strap fitting (c. 1200-c. 1400).
This fitting consists of a plate and integral hook. The plate is rectangular in plan and the hook projects rearwards. The plate is convex at the front, flat at the rear and has the remains of five iron rivets. At the hook end the width of the plate is 19.0mm and the width at the opposite end is 17.2mm. There are two rivets close to each end and one at the centre. A rat-tail like feature tapers in width from the end of the hook to the edge of the central rivet. The hook is 'D'-shaped in cross-section
The fitting is drab greenish brown with patches of gilding at the front.
