CLOTH SEAL

An incomplete post-medieval lead cloth seal, dating to the period 1500-1700. It is incomplete insofar as it is one of two discs from a two disc cloth seal. It depicts a crowned rose with an eight-pointed star to the left and a sun to the right. The cloth seal is circular in shape, measuring 25.62mm in diameter and is 3.56mm at its thickest. What remains is a singular disc, possibly disc 2, and what might be the circular rivet wedged securely, 11.42mm in diameter.
The lack of a secondary disk means that this could equally be disc 1 with the base of the circular rivet. The patina is largely smooth, and off-white in colour.

Inscription: Crowned rose, eight-pointed star to left, sun to right // -
