TREASURE CASE : 2017 T85.
A complete though distorted 'fede' finger ring of Post-Mediveal date, c. AD 1620 - 1720. The bezel is in the form of two hands, one clasped in the other, with a heart projecting between them to the upper edge. Each hand projects from an elaborate lace-like ruffed cuff. The hoop extends from either cuff. It has a D-shaped section and is bent out of shape. The interior surface of the finger ring is inscribed with capitalised text reading: x YOVR x HART x I x CRAVE x.

Discussion:
Numerous 'fede' finger rings with inscriptions have been submitted for consideration as Treasure, including: WILT-4C20D3 (no Treasure number given); 2016 T615 (IOW-24A544); and 2009 T208 (SUSS-DB9583). All are dated to the 17th - 18th centuries.
Notes:
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
Valued by the Treasure Valuation Committee on 03.10.17 at £1,500.
