A body sherd (fragment) from a pottery vessel, possibly Iron-Age or early medieval in date. The fabric is dark red-brown, with fine sandy inclusions and some large voids. The surface is black and has several linear grooves; it is not certain if these are decorative scoring or the impression of grass or straw from an organic temper. The fragment is thick - 10 mm, and has a slight curvature - the linear striations on the surface run at roughly 90 degrees to the curvature.
