Incomplete and abraded medieval gilt copper alloy spur buckle with the pin and inside edge of the integral frame missing: oval frame; plate with slight lateral swellings flanking the pin hole from which the sides taper past a rivet hole to a roundel with four even slighter swellings, with the final stretch tapering further to a break. This last part curls upwards, probably through distortion rather than as part of a hook or scroll, A third rivet hole must have been lost. Faint traces of engraved linear decoration remain as lines of gilding standing proud of the surrounding surface. Length c.65mm. Frame width 21.4mm. Plate width 14 - 4.6mm. 13th - 14th century.
