A complete copper-alloy buckle of medieval date, circa AD 1250 - 1500. The buckle is a single loop D-shape with narrowed and recessed strap bar. Five transverse grooves decorate the outer loop of the frame. The central groove is more pronounced acting as a rest for the pin. The triangular pin remains looped around the strap bar.
The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 33.3mm long, 21.9mm wide, 4.1mm thick and weighs 6.4g.
Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead (1996), p.19 and are dated to circa AD 1250 - 1500.
