Copper alloy brooch. Headstud brooch, Mackreth type Headstud 6. Rectangular wings with stepped fronts mask a cylindrical case for an axis bar for a hinged pin [now lost]; the bar may have continued to form a loop [if so, again, now lost]. A moulded stud with a central annulus is separated from the top of the head by a short longitudinal ridge. Below the stud there are worn traces of compartments of uncertain form; thhe lower bow and foot are lost. Suggested date: Early Roman, 75-125.
