Incomplete copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative brooch dating to the period c. AD 43 - 65. Most of the wings, the pin, the lower bow, foot and catchplate are missing. The remaining portion of the wings are C-shaped in cross-section, with a recessed reverse to house the sprung pin mechanism, now missing. The bow arches back from the head and tapers to an old break.
