Copper alloy button. Cast flat discoid button with a separate cast and drilled loop brazed to the back. The front bears a small central cushion crown motif enclosed in a Garter-style band inscribed S U R P V within a Garter star. The back bears indistinct stamped maker's details including: [----] BRAND and a tiny spot of relict gilding. This appears likely to be a uniform button, possibly from a police or militia body. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1825-1875.
