Medieval copper alloy fitting, 38mm in length, 8mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 6.88grams. The object is rectangular in form and cross section and is decorated on all sides except the flat underside. It has one complete terminal with incised angular decoration suggestive of an animal head. This has a plain rounded end sitting next to a raised transverse ridge with diagonal incisions. Beyond this is a linear depression then a plain ridge with two diagonal incisions running outwards from it. Behind this is another transverse ridge with a central chevron incison behind it. Beyond this the object has incisions which may be damage and has snapped off. The object may be a book or casket fitting, see NMS-0A3032 for comparison.
