Copper alloy key fragment. Cast rotary key with a stem of rounded section with an aperture at the bit. A relatively small rectangular bit with a channel on one side and a basal cleft remains towards, though not at, the end of the stem, A collar moulding separated the stem from the bow [now lost]. It is suggested that keys with a hole at the end may have been for caskets or chests rather than door locks. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1400.
