An incomplete copper alloy button, of Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1700).
The head is domed, with a curved rope work pattern on the surface. This design consists of three sets of 8 curved lines, extending out from the centre. The shank has a rectangular cross section, and the loop is missing.
It measures 14.2 mm in length, with a head diameter of 11.6 mm. It weighs 4.1 g.
The button is a mid to dark green colour, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail.
