An incomplete flint back blade likely dating to the Neolithic c. 4000-2200BC.
Description: The blade is irregularly shaped but thinner at the butt/proximal end, it is roughly triangular in cross section. The flaking on the ventral side is long and clear. The backed edge has been intentionally blunted with short scaled abrupt retouch, along the edge of the right side of the ventral edge. There is a small amount of retouch on the broken edge, which has snapped evenly across the width of the blade. The retouch on the break is on the ventral side is short irregularly scaled and abrupt. It is possible this retouch was to blunt the sharp break. It is uncertain what the full length of the blade would have been due to this break. The blade edge has been quite badly battered after the tool was made as it goes through the subtle patination. The flint is a dark grey with some mottled blue-white patination which is most prominent on the dorsal side.
