An incomplete Medieval to post Medieval copper-alloy purse bar (1450-1550. Ward- Perkins type B8.
This is the upper component and has a cuboid central block which is rectangular in cross-section. The stub of a suspension loop survives at the end of the block and appears to have been oval in cross-section. Each arm is oval in cross-section and each terminal is bi-conical in form.
This purse bar is corroded and greenish brown. The break is old.
Length: 62.5mm; width: 16.7mm; thickness: 6.0mm; diameter of terminals: 10.6mm. Weight: 17.07g.
