Copper alloy possible mount fragment. Rectangular cast plate of thickness 1mm bearing a curvilinear motif divided into reserved areas and deeper zones or cells filled with enamel; all within a narrow border. The enamel is now degraded and crumbled, possibly by burning as well as by bending of the plate; its tint is now turquoise. Two drilled fixing holes of diameter 2mm appear at one end of the plate, and traces of gilding appear near these. The other end of the plate is torn away. A combination of gilt and enamelled decoration hints at an origin in a decorative setting of Limoges work, which might also be used for a buckle plate: the relict motif may resemble an heraldic lion walking, a common motif. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1300.
