A complete cast copper-alloy trumpet-headed brooch in excellent condition. The flattened wing-like trumpet head has an integral chain loop. The wings have two vertical ribs at each end. Behind the wings is a hinge pin mechanism, which still retains the copper alloy pin. Midway down the bow is a small, decorated disc with a diameter of 8.4mm. Above the disc is a single transverse rib. Either side of the disc is a small lug and in the centre of the disc is a ring. The disc would have originally have been filled with enamel. Below the disc is a fan shaped leg with three lozenge-shaped cells in a vertical line, which would have contained enamel. At the top of the leg are four transverse ribs. Behind the fan-shaped leg is a short catchplate (length 18.4mm, width 6.3mm). The overall length of the brooch is 39.9mm, the width is 14.1mm and the weight is 6.10g.

An exact parallel can be found in Hattat. R, 1985, p113 No. 449) and is dated top the mid second century.
