A fragment of a cast copper alloy late-medieval to early post medieval purse bar, dating to circa AD 1450-1550. The fragment consists of one side bar and the globular terminal. The side bar is cylindrical in cross section with a notch in the shaft before the terminal and also at the opposing broken end. Read (2001) illustrates purse bars with globular terminals on page 129, no's 923 and 924 which are dated to late 15th to early 16th century.
The fragment measures 41.73mm long, 11.97mm wide at the globular terminal and 2.41mm thick on the arm. It weighs 4 grams.
