SOCKETED AXEHEAD

Unique ID: DYFED-ED531A

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

An incomplete copper alloy Bronze Age socketed axehead covered in the characteristic green patina of bronze artefacts. The axehead has a rectangular cross-section with straight edges flaring at 1 centimetre from the edge. The edge is damaged indicating use, and three ridges are very worn, but just still visible on one side. A small bump near the neck is likely to have been the remains of the loop.
