A complete lead alloy pistol shot, 0.44 calibre (11.4mm diameter), dating to the 19th century. The shot has been made in a mould as the casting sprue is quite pronounced, but no casting seam can be seen. Unusually, the base of the shot (so at the opposing side to the sprue), the initials H C have been cast into it. This seems unlikely to be the maker's mark as no other examples of such a practice could be found - it is more likely that the shot was home-made using a pair of bullet moulding tongs or a soapstone bullet moulding block - the latter would have been easier to carve than cast metal so theoretically one could carefully carve an initial on either side of the block.
