A copper alloy belt mount dating to the Medieval period, (1100-1500). It is domed with a concave rear. The object has a central oval section and has a sub-rectangular terminal at each end. Each terminal is contains a copper alloy rivet for attachment.

The central lobe has been decorated with five grooves. The resulting ridges are decorated with a series of small transverse grooves. The object has a mid-green patina and is in good condition.

Dimensions: 20mm in length, 10mm in width, 4mm thick, 2.1g

This form of belt mount was very popular in the medieval period and was in use from at least 1150-1450 AD. Similar examples can be seen in Egan and Pritchard's book on Medieval London, p.213-4 (2002). Similar examples which can be found on the database is LVPL-F028C2 and LVPL-7D5A62.
