A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy coin weight for a half laurel of James I (1603-1625). Third coinage, c. 1619-1625 (Withers and Withers 1995: 14).
Obverse: Bust of James I left within a beaded circle.
Reverse: Crowned X·s within a beaded circle, crowned I in top left hand corner.
Length: 13.7mm; width: 13.5mm; thickness: 2.9mm. Weight: 4.05g. (62.8 grains). Full weight according to Withers should be 70.0 grains.
