An incomplete and corroded post-Medieval copper-alloy hinge (c. 1500-c. 1800).
This hinge is sub-rectangular in plan. At each corner there is a lobed projection. At the rear, one end has a hinge turning on a separate spindle of unclear metal which remains within. The opposite end has a double tapering spike, now incomplete. The front is decorated with an oval groove which has a raised motif within which is possibly floral.
The front is corroded and reddish green and the rear appears to be coated in black lacquer.
Length: 20.6mm; width: 12.9mm; thickness: 1.7mm; thickness including hinge turning: 4.0mm. Weight: 1.32g.
