An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill type, dating from c. AD 80-120. The brooch is almost T-shaped in plan with a steep D-shaped cross section. The head is comma shaped in profile, with short cylindral wings with end caps projecting from either side at the top. A decorative ridge is present on either side between the wings and the bow. The rest of the bow is plain and undecorated. On the reverse of the brooch, the majority of the spring is retained however the pin is missing. The catchplate is complete and extends nearly half the length of the bow. Many similar examples have been recorded on this database, including WMID-08E9D6, HESH-0AE5E3 and WILT-E3DD25.
