A complete copper alloy post-medieval farthing trade token issued by John Palmer of Witney, Oxfordshire, in AD 1656. Norweb (Volume IV) no. 3845b.

Notes:

John Palmer, who called himself a 'gentleman', was closely associated with the Witney wool and blanket trade, and is recorded as a fellmonger, a dealer in fells or sheepskins. The woolpack on this token alludes to his business. John Palmer died in AD 1712.
