An incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative, hinged brooch of Roman date (AD 43-120). The brooch has a sub-circular sectioned bow with faint medial ridge at the head and a raised ridge running longitudinally along the front of the bow. The head of the bow is curved and the arms of the brooch are of crescentic form and sub-rectangular in plan. The majority of the catchplate is retained at the back of the lower bow. The pin is missing
The metal is a light green in colour with a slightly pitted patina.
