BUTTON

Unique ID: PUBLIC-EE6E51

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Modern copper alloy, cast livery button. The button's face is slighlty convex with a concave reverse. It was most likely originally gilded or silvered. The front has a raised design of a crown with an erect arm holding some kind of object, however it is too worn to make out any kind of detail. On the back is the makers' name: HAMMOND TURNER & SONS, between an inner and outer pellet border and a loop in the centre which would attach the button to, presumably, some kind of garment.

It hasn't been possible to identify the crest, however the backmark was used by the makers from 1823 to 1865.
