A brooch with a pin on reverse in an Anglo-Saxon style, possibly of gold plate or similar.
Dimensions:
Length: 46mm
Weigh:25mm
Thickness: 3-9mm
Weight: 10.82g
Discussion: After discussions with the curators at the British Museum, the brooch is likely a copy of an early medieval Celtic-style penannular brooch, and could even date to the 20th century.
Conclusion: Due to the find most likely dating to the 20th century, it is less than 300 years old and therefore falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
Curators that reviewed find: Sue Brunning and Judy Rudoe, British Museum
