Copper alloy possible strap fitting, as kindly suggested by Rose Nicholson with reference to Roman material held at North Lincolnshire Museum. Cast concavo-convex plate of teardrop form with a smaller basal [as illustrated] collared oval knop, and a larger oval knop above a rectangular bar with central rib. A lug from the latter is set at an obtuse angle to the plate; its counterpart on the other side has probably been lost. Suggested date: Early Roman, 43-200.
