~~Copper alloy Colchester one piece brooch with the spring cast integrally with the bow, the spring is made from five curls, the pin is complete. There is a rearwards facing hook on the top of the head which holds the external cord of the spring. Small tabs/wing project either side of the head to protect the spring. The bow is plain and tapers to the foot, the catch plate is now truncated buy would have been decorated with a series of openwork panels. Date 25-60AD
