Lead probable steelyard weight. Cast oval weight with a drilled aperture at one end of diameter c.4mm. The hole was perhaps for an iron suspension loop, though if so, this was removed before deposition as there is no trace of rust around the hole. Patinated, and battered with numerous dents and fewer deep nicks. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410.
