Base sherd of a Roman, probably samian, bowl with bright pink/orange surfaces but no trace of a colour coating. The fabric is oxidised, soft, and with a light grey core. It has slight voids and two large in the core and one 10 mm long by 2 mm wide in the upper inside surface that contains a very soft, light beige inclusion.Otherwise it contains sparse mica, calcite, a light brown and small, black grit inclusions. It is dated to 43 to 400 AD and is moderately abraded and fractures are fine. Its height is 58 mm, width 75 mm and thickness 9 mm and it weighs 66.98 gms and has a base diameter of 70 mm.
