Incomplete copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative, rear hook brooch. The pin, one wing, most of the bow, the foot and the catchplate are missing.
The remaining wing is C-shaped in section, with a recessed reverse to house the pin mechanism. Projecting from the centre of the head is a rearward facing hook which terminates in a worn break. The facted hexagonal-sectioned bow arches back from the head and tapers from a width of 5.7mm to 3.0mm at the break point.
