Early Medieval (11th century) stirrup mount: The copper alloy mount is semi-cylindrical and the outer, convex face has moulded decoration on the lower portion which is probably a zoomorphic style to it, but the details are not clear.
The surface of the terminal is heavily abraded, with only traces of a dark green patina, but instead has red copper corrosion and a light green corroded surface.
The terminal measures 104.99mm in length, 16.42mm in width and 9.20mm in thickness, and weighs 38.8g.
The stirrup mount is an extended terminal, it is an Anglo-Scandinavian artefact dating to the 11th century (Williams, 1997). This example is similar to the one illustrated in Figure 2a (Williams, 1997).
