An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper alloy acorn mount with integral lugs dating to the 17th century (AD 1600-1700). The mount is convex at the front and concave at the rear. On the front the seed (or fruit) is plain which is divided from the acorn cup by a horizontal line. The cup is decorated in low relief cross-hatching. At the base of the cup is an extension representing the stalk which is set at a right angle. On the reverse are two integral-cast spiked lugs. One is set behind the seed and is damaged. The other one is set at the base of the cup and is bent outwards towards the stalk.

The mount measures 32.7mm long, 16.6mm wide, 2mm thick and weighs 4.42 grams.

A similar example has been illustrated in Read (2001), p.29 fig 22, no 331.
