Copper alloy brooch. Cast Colchester derivative brooch with tubular wings clenched behind retaining seven coils of a separate spring, clasped by a D section bow with a central longitudinal ridge flanked by lentoid panels diminishing in their size from top to bottom of the bow; cf. Mackreth type CD PH6.a5. The stub of a pierced catch plate projects behind the lower bow; abraded. Slight relicts of white metal plating appear on the top of the head. Both these and the pierced catch plate may point to a relatively early date. Suggested date: Early Roman, 45-75.
